
The Appellate Tribunal, MCD, dealing with matters related to illegal construction, is a statutory and independent body constituted by the Central Government through gazette notification under Section 347-A of the Delhi Municipal Corporation Act, 1957. The Presiding Officer of the Tribunal is a judicial officer of the rank of District Judge or Additional District Judge, appointed by the Central Government with the concurrence of the High Court. The Tribunal has authority to hear and decide specific appeals under Sections 343 and 347-B of the DMC Act relating to municipal actions concerning building and construction matters.
